engagement photos

I love our photographer, Michael Howard ( Howard Photography). I was very deliberate in choosing a photographer because I had a specific look in mind and wedding photos are an investment. I love his photojournalistic style, juxtaposition of beauty with the unexpected, and his use of light.

These photos are from our engagement session back in October. We opted to do engagement photos instead of me having "bridal portraits" because bridal photos will be taken at the wedding. Plus, it is fun to get dressed up for a "fashion shoot" in everyday clothes! Although it was not quite as glamorous as I had envisioned a "photo shoot" to be--it was VERY cold outside that day!

We took these photos at the house Joe grew up in. It is a beautiful old antebellum home. Michael can find the best spots to use as backdrops...although I am not sure what Joe's mom thought of her antique couch out in the front yard!!
