kitchens

Kitchens are by far my favorite room in a house. When Joe and I were house hunting, my primary concern was the kitchen. Loving to cook and cook for people, I wanted a nice large room for hosting people. People always tend to congregate in the kitchen, so I wanted to have nice large room. Counter space is also important--having a large work surface. I also like bars or islands which lends the space to "serving" people. :) I like eclectic kitchens, open cabinets, displayed dishes, pot racks, etc.

Here are some of my favorite kitchens:

Clean and White.

With a splash of yellow.

Unique cabinets.

Love subway tile back splashes and white marble counter tops! Very Barefoot Contessa.

Basin Sinks.

Colorful exposed storage space. Cookbooks EVERYWHERE!

This one is from "It's Complicated." Love the double ovens, island, and lighting.

And of course. Julia Child. I adore her "pot wall."

Inspiration Board

We are going with a yellow/green color scheme. Very earthy. Here is an inspiration board!

Our kitchen is by no means near my dream kitchen, but it is my own and has promise with small tweaks! :) For the kitchen/dining room itself...

Getting started on the room, we found this awesome old refinished bar!
